Library outreach services for area seniors

Books for Senior Living Communities

The library provides high-quality fiction and nonfiction titles that were once part of the circulating collection to community groups and underserved populations through our Sharebrary program.

  • Titles represent a variety of genres (fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, nonfiction, mystery etc.)
  • Sharebrary items are limited in quantity and not guaranteed
  • If you are interested in books for your community, please contact Rya Fennewald at ryaf@deschuteslibrary.org

Customized Librarian Visits

Community Librarians are available to visit Senior Living Communities anywhere in Deschutes County. Services that we provide include but not limited to:

  • Presentation on free library resources and library card sign-ups
  • Technology help and classes (Android Basics, iPhone Basics, iPad basics, and more)
  • Book talks on new and upcoming reads
  • Tales and Travel memory programming, an innovative book and reading library program that provides services directly to people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias

Library Rendezvous

The Library Rendezvous program is available to retirement homes who wish to provide their residents with a recreational outing and the opportunity to use library materials at Deschutes Public Library locations.

A monthly day and time is set up for each facility to visit their local library. Library staff and volunteers are on hand to welcome and assist residents during their visits.
