The Deschutes Public Library offers free, hands on computer classes on variety of topics. Class size and topics vary based on library facilities and community demand.

In addition to formal classes, the library offers open computer labs where community members can drop in to ask specific technology questions or practice computer skills.

    Avoid time-consuming and costly mistakes by learning from someone who has "been there, done that." SCORE business counselors will be available from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for free one-on-one small business counseling. Individuals who operate or wish to start small businesses can discuss business planning, organization and start-up, finance, marketing and other critical business issues with SCORE volunteers in private, confidential sessions. No appointment necessary.
    SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed nationwide. They are a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and have been mentoring small business owners for more than forty years.     Are you thinking of starting your own small business, but not sure what kind of legal entity to form? Do you want to learn about the advantages and disadvantages of different business structures, such as sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, LLC, and more? Do you want to know how to register your business name, obtain licenses and permits, file taxes, and protect your assets and liabilities?

    If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this class is for you. In this class, you will learn about the basics of business structure and how to choose the one that best suits your needs and goals. You will also learn about the legal, financial, and operational implications of each business structure, and how to comply with the relevant laws and regulations.     Dan Spencer is a licensed attorney in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. In addition, he is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court, the United States District Courts in Oregon and Idaho, and before the Executive Office of Immigration Review Court. His primary focus has been litigation in workers’ compensation, employment discrimination, personal injury, and wrongful death law. Also over the years he has formed and represented for-profit and not-for-profit corporations, and has represented governmental bodies such as hospital, library, and irrigation districts, and Lake County, Oregon.
