This service is available to individuals, community groups, organizations and businesses.

  2. What kind of training can I request?

Individual or group training on basic computer skills and software and library resources including digital books, movies and music. Feel free to ask and we’ll let you know if we can accommodate the need or point you to other resources that might help.

  3. Where does the training occur?

Appointments and trainings can be arranged at one of our library locations, virtually via Zoom, over the phone, or at your space if appropriate.

  4. Is there anything I can’t get help with?

We cannot offer advice (e.g., medical, legal, investment) except to advise users of reputable sources of evaluative information. Also, we cannot offer maintenance help with personal computers or mobile devices.

  5. Do you offer help with job searches, resume assistance, and career support?

We are happy to show you how to use our career, job exploration, and resume building resources and help you explore a variety of job search and professional networking web sites, as well as local resources. We can also make referrals to free or low cost local organizations that focus in these topics.

  6. Do you provide help with genealogy research?

We have a number of resources available at the Library and are happy to let you know about them to help you get started. More advanced genealogy questions should be directed to genealogy specialists.

  7. Who will be helping me?

We look at your request and determine the best person on our staff to work with you based on expertise and availability.

  8. Are there other ways to get help from a librarian?

Of course! You can always stop by any Deschutes Public Library location and go to the service desk to ask for assistance. You can also call us at 541-617-7080 or email us at reference@deschuteslibrary.org.
