Future Libraries: La Pine Library

The La Pine Library is centrally located and near local schools. It is a popular destination for all ages and is especially bustling after school with students. The planned renovation creates a bright and open space that welcomes the entire community with amenities including meeting/tutor rooms, an enhanced children’s discovery space, a cozy fireplace and reading area, and a large community gathering space.

What’s happening with the La Pine Library?

The La Pine Library will close at the end of the day on January 25 to allow for remodeling. A temporary La Pine Library is in the works and is scheduled to open in late February 2023, in the John C. Johnson Building across the parking lot from the library. Please hold your returns while the library is closed during this transition time (January 26–late February 2023). You can also return items to any other Deschutes Public Library location (including the Sunriver Library, just 15 miles to the north). No late fees will be charged for materials. The remodeled La Pine Library is scheduled to reopen in fall 2023.

Community Gathering Space
A large meeting room, with an operable partition wall, provides versatility throughout the day and for after-hour gatherings.

Tutor/Meeting Rooms
Two additional meeting/tutor rooms address the increased demand for collaborative and creative spaces for the La Pine community.

Children’s Discovery Space
Children of all ages enjoy an enhanced discovery space that includes room for interactive play and learning.

Proposed Floor Plan

Book & Materials Collection

Teen Space
Teens meet, study, and create in a space all their own.

Cozy fireplace
Comfortable seating surrounds a new, energy-efficient fireplace.

We hope you were able to join us for an Open House drop-in session where we shared construction and remodeling details and answered any questions or concerns you might have had.
