Description
Get inspired writing poetry across genres: from receipts to recipes.
We'd love your feedback and suggestions regarding library programming. Take the survey at
https://dpl.pub/survey2023.The written word is everywhere. Many poets have found inspiration in writing across forms and genres. This workshop will explore the writing forms and formats we may take for granted that can provide rich opportunities for creative expression: Receipts, How-To Guides, Letters, Textbooks, Emails, Horoscopes, Algebraic Word Problems, Newspaper Headlines, Fortune Cookies. Writing across forms can provide a great strategy for ordering ideas and embedding meaning. In addition, these techniques offer poets the opportunity to reinvigorate their craft.
No preparation is required, but registered participants will be sent an optional reading list of sample poems as well as a fun optional assignment to begin generating ideas for poems.
