Discuss travel writing with Bend author Joshua Savage.
If you are a part of the COWG, you like to write. But do you like to travel? For most of us, the answer is probably yes. Joshua Savage will share tips and ideas on what it takes to become an established travel writer. Be prepared to write what matters when advocating for a place to visit, based on having been there. Learn what to look for on your next trip if you want to write about it and sell your article.
Joshua Savage decided to take his passions (teaching, exploring, writing and spending time with family) and integrate them into a full-time lifestyle. Originally a native of the South, he, his wife, and his two daughters sold most of their possessions and began traveling the world. When they landed in Bend, they immediately fell in love with the area and decided to make it home. With so much natural beauty to explore in Central Oregon, Joshua is constantly on the hunt for new adventures. He has written two novels, two children's books, several short stories and more. He also freelances for a number of publications such as Northwest Travel & Life, Memphis Magazine, The Source Weekly, and Medium.
The mission of Central Oregon Writers Guild is to provide Central Oregon area writers a forum for mutual support and education through meetings, annual events and workshops. Their goal is to advance growth and success for individual writers of all genres and at all skill levels. Founded in 2002, the Guild is a non-profit organization, where volunteers coordinate the group's activities.
