Desmond Spann
Description
Desmond Spann helps you take your poetry from the page to the stage.
In this workshop we will take the power of word from the page to the stage. We will explore the creative process of crafting a performance with poetry. We will explore some pre-writing techniques to keep the creative blocks at bay.
To be light, pass the spark, and watch us glow is Desmond Spann's vision. His creative expressions of emceeing, music, teaching, and writing seek true liberation-freedom from fear and its many forms. His performances and poetry were featured OPB's Oregon Art Beat. His first book "Des Writes Bars and Poems Too" (available on amazon) is a collection of verses and spoken word poems, expanding the definition of Hip Hop poetry. Desmond gains wisdom, support, and love from his partner Kacy, sons Isaiah and Ayoleeto. Living in Portland Oregon, he teaches 9th grade English at Franklin High School, performs with the 6-piece live Hip Hop band Speaker Minds (speakerminds.com) and blogs at DesmondSpann.com.
