Deschutes Public Library Wrapped: 2025
Who doesn’t love a good year-in-review? From page-turning reads and kits to library events and community connections, 2025 was a big year at Deschutes Public Library. Here is a snapshot of how the county showed up, checked out, and made the most of their library.
By the Numbers
In 2025, library customers checked out 2,528,859 items, showing just how much our community loves to read, listen, and explore. Our website welcomed 532,636 total visitors, we have 73,612 active cardholders and 16,978 new library cards were issued to Deschutes County residents.
What You Loved Reading and Listening To
Your most popular picks spanned formats and genres. The most checked-out physical book of the year was our A Novel Idea pick, Murder by Degrees, while Broken Country topped the ebooks list and The Tenant led the way in audiobooks. Whether you were reading on the couch, listening on a walk, or squeezing in a chapter between errands, your enthusiasm for stories showed up loud and clear!
The Library of Things Had a Big Year
Books are just the beginning. In 2025, Library of Things kits were checked out 1,871 times, with Tonies emerging as the most popular item. From creative tools to practical equipment, these checkouts helped customers save money by borrowing instead of buying. Trying something new has never been easier or more affordable.
More Than Materials
Behind every checkout is a moment of curiosity, creativity, and connection. Whether you popped in to pick up a hold, spent an afternoon studying, attended a program, or discovered a new hobby, you were part of what made 2025 such a meaningful year for the library.
