Join Deschutes Public Library's first learning circle and discover your family's history.
Genealogy is one of the more difficult types of research you can undertake, but it is also the most fascinating because it's all about you. If you're considering researching your own family tree, but don't know where to begin, join this fun and casual learning circle to get started.
Learning circles are free, peer-led study groups for learners who want to take online courses together in a public space. This circle will follow the Geneaology Basics class offered through Gale Courses, an online learning platform accessed with your library card. Two lectures are posted each week with suggested assignments. Learning circle participants will meet once a week to discuss the lectures and share insights and feedback on the assignments. A librarian will facilitate each weekly meeting.
The Learning Circle will meet on Tuesdays, September 10 through October 22, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Meyer Classroom at the Downtown Bend Library. Participants will need a Deschutes Public Library card to register. Register online for the full series here.
