Would you like to try your hand at knitting? Or see what this whole InstantPot thing is about? Maybe you’d like to give a GoPro a whirl. With Deschutes Public Library’s new Library of Things, you can check out more than books!

The La Pine Library is the second library in the Deschutes Public Library system to implement a Library of Things and will serve as a test site for the pilot program. Starting December 3, all of the kits below can be checked out at (and must be returned to) the La Pine Library during this evaluation phase:

  • Nature & Bird-watching Kit
  • Crochet Kit
  • GoPro Kit
  • Instant Pot Kit
  • Knitting Kit
  • Ukulele Kit

“These kits are a great way for customers to try something new that they’re interested in but perhaps aren’t ready to purchase on their own yet,” says Cathy Zgraggen, supervisor of the La Pine Library. “Customers can now explore new areas of interest and even learn new skills,” she adds.

Starting December 3, Library of Things kits are located ONLY at the La Pine Library and have a three-week loan period (21 days), at which time they must be returned to the La Pine Library. Please note there are no holds and no renewals and a late fee will apply for any kit not returned in the three-week loan window.
