Halloween isn’t just for kids! In fact it is the favorite holiday of local author and storyteller, Heather McNeil. “I like Halloween because it allows people, young and old, to let go of their inhibitions and be someone else,” says McNeil. Join Heather for an evening of spooky storytelling for adults on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Admin Conference Room at 507 NW Wall (the old library building).

“My ancestors were Celts and they created All Hallow’s E’en.” McNeil’s favorite spooky tale just happens to be Irish, and involves a clever girl named Mary Culhane and a very hungry corpse. She also promises a vampire story! “These are scary stories! So don't bring children!” Storytimes for children at the Bend Public Library during the week of October 24-28 will feature seasonal selections more appropriate for young audiences.

McNeil has been storytelling and entertaining audiences throughout the United States for many years.  She was a featured teller at the 2010 Forest Storytelling Festival in Washington, and the 2011 Rocky Mountain Storytelling Festival in Colorado and has performed at countless conferences, schools and libraries.  She is the author of two collections of folklore, and has represented the United States at international storytelling festivals in Scotland and New Zealand.
