know fear
According to FDR, we have nothing to fear, but fear itself. But in these days of TV shows about vampires, zombies, and serial killers, we might want to rethink Mr. Roosevelt’s remarks. Celebrate all things scary during Deschutes Public Library’s Know Fear series this October.

During the series, scholars, storytellers and authors will be exploring what we are afraid of and why. Included in the schedule are programs about vampires in popular culture and folklore as well as a historical look at Oregon cemeteries. Also included in the series is a storytelling performance of scary stories for adults by Heather McNeil and a reading by author Chelsea Cain, whose novels about slasher serial killer Gretchen Lowell have topped the New York Times Bestseller List. All programs are free and open to the public.

Visit the Know Fear webpage for a complete list of programs.
