Touring the Galapagos Islands with Naturalist Jim Anderson

The Deschutes Public Library is pleased to announce two presentations by local naturalist Jim Anderson called “Touring the Galapagos Islands with Naturalist Jim Anderson”, and will take place on
Thursday, September 15 at 6:30 pm at the East Bend Public Library, and on
Saturday, September 17th at 1:00 p.m. at the Sunriver Area Public Library. These presentations are part of a month-long
series of events on South America that will be held at various library branches throughout the district in September. All events are free and open to the public.
Although born in West Haven Connecticut, Jim Anderson has lived in the Northwest for several years, working at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), where he directed outdoor education and scientific activities and operated OMSI’s science camps. He was also the director of conservation and education programs at what is now the Oregon Zoo in Portland. More recently, he has used his 50 years of experience studying raptors in Central Oregon to conduct education programs for children and adults state-wide, including adult Continuing Education programs for Central Oregon Community College.
Jim has been writing a nature column for
The Nugget Newspaper in Sisters as well as
The Source in Bend for several years, and is the author of the book “
Tales from a Northwest Naturalist”. He has also conducted Elder Hostel programs for Central Oregon Community College, the Sunriver Nature Center, and Southern Oregon University. He also enjoys the work he has done with OPB and the crew from
