Jeff Perin, fishing guide and owner of the Fly Fisher’s Place presents a program highlighting fly fishing in the Patagonia region of South America. Jeff’s program is part of the
Know South America series being offered at the Library during the month of November. The program is scheduled for
Tuesday, September 13 at the Downtown Bend Public Library and starts at 6:30 pm and is free and open to the public.
On his adventures to the Patagoina region, Jeff fishes for rainbow and brown trout. Another interesting species Jeff has encountered is the perca, the equivalent of our small mouth bass. “I love fishing the Patagonia region,” says Jeff. “We leave Central Oregon when it is still winter here and head to where it’s warm!” Jeff has enjoyed the fly fishing business in Central Oregon for 26 years as a guide and shop owner. An Oregon native, he first went fly fishing with his cousin in Bend in June of 1980. From that point on, he was hooked and has traveled the world chasing fish from Russia to Christmas Island and from New Zealand to the Patagonia regions of Chile and Argentina. Jeff’s favorite waters are still close to home and you’ll find him casting dries on the Metolius to picky trout or rowing his drift boat around Hosmer on a summer evening.
