You can travel around the world this summer without ever leaving sunny Central Oregon, just by joining the summer reading program. “One World, Many Stories” is for children age 0-11, “You Are Here” is for the teens, age 12-17, and “Novel Destinations” is designed for adults.
All you need to do is complete 3 hours of reading or listening to books, and you will receive a free book of your choice at the library. After that, there are bingo cards and Read Around the World maps for additional reading and fun activities. Each bingo or completed map earns lottery tickets for grand prizes—Lucia Llama puppet for children, a flip video camera for teens, and a color Nook for adults.
There are also many free special events going on at the libraries during the summer, such as a Dance Around the World series, a puppet show, a panel discussion about the Peace Corps, and a demonstration on the art of henna.
