Deschutes Public Library welcomes author Scott Cook to the
Redmond Public Library on Saturday, May 21 at 11:00 a.m. Cook’s presentation is free and open to the public. Books will be available for sale.
Scott Cook is the fun-loving author of the best-selling local hiking/exploring guidebook “
Bend, Overall.” Cook has been writing Oregon guidebooks for the past 10 years, starting with the Columbia Gorge’s “Curious Gorge Guidebook.” For the past five U.S. winters, Cook has traveled to New Zealand where he “worked to explore the New Zealand summers.” His research produced two well-received outdoor guidebooks highlighting his adventures of his travels.
Cook says that his books differ from typical hiking books because they don’t stick to simply hiking. “I believe that outdoorsy folks are curious about whatever is interesting in our fantastic local landscape, whether it’s a hot springs, a cave, or a geologic oddity.” Scott says that Central Oregon is “captivatingly special.” During his slide show, Scott will feature a fun array of film clips from rarely seen movies that have been filmed near Bend, as well as presenting a slideshow of hidden spots to explore in the Central Oregon springtime before our high country opens up. Come to this lively presentation and be prepared to both laugh and learn.
