The East Bend Library is throwing a party and everyone is welcome to attend.

--Saturday, April 30, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.--

Beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, the Deschutes Public Library will host a grand opening event for its newest Library branch in east Bend. Festivities will include live acoustic guitar beginning at 3:30 and live Dixieland Jazz by the Summit Express Jazz Band starting at 4:30. Food tastings and specials from local food vendors TuckMo, Longboard Louie’s, The Village Baker, Whole Foods, Starbucks Coffee, and Jamba Juice will be available during the celebration.

“The Library has already experienced incredible success in its first month of operations,” said Library Director Todd Dunkelberg. “More than 10,000 customers have used the East Bend Library and we have developed several community partnerships that will serve Bend residents for years to come.”

The East Bend Library has also received generous support from local organizations. Two substantial gifts are in process from the Friends of the Bend Libraries to purchase furniture for the new library and Art in Public Places for the donation of artwork in the Children’s area.

“The Library has also received much support from its great neighbors at Borden’s Corner including Starks Vacuum, Longboard Louie’s, TuckMo, West Coast Bank, and Verizon Wireless Source,” said Dunkelberg.

All ages are welcome to the grand opening celebration. For more information regarding the grand opening, please call Assistant Library Director Kevin Barclay at (541) 312-1046 or
