Rich GlauberDeschutes Public Library invites all ages to the annual celebration of El dia de los ninos/El dia de los libros,” which means “The Day of the Child/The Day of the Book.”   Commonly called Dia, the event emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for children of all backgrounds.  This year is the 15th anniversary of Dia and the theme is “Many Children, Many Cultures, Many Books.”

“By popular demand, we are bringing back bilingual musician Rich Glauber,” stated Heather McNeil, Youth Services Manager. “He performed in some of our libraries during Hispanic Heritage Month, and was a big hit. So we’re delighted he is returning.”

Rich Glauber’s program is entitled, “Music in Action,”  and is described as “inspiring and joyful.” There will be plenty of audience participation through singing and movement. (www.richglauber.com) Following Rich the audience will hear a bilingual story, and participate in an African game and a Russian craft.

The Day of the Child/The Day of the Book will be presented at the Redmond Library on April 30 at 10:30 a.m., and at the East Bend Library on April 30 at 2:00 p.m. For more information contact McNeil at 541-617-7099, or heatherm@deschuteslibrary.org.
