The Deschutes Public Library is pleased to announce the new 8,000 square foot East Bend Library will open March 22, 2011. The new library is located at Borden’s Corner – 62080 Dean Swift Road #170 – just off Hwy 20. The East Bend Library provides full services that include: a community meeting room, popular materials collection, Internet stations, story times, adult programming, and holds pick-up.

The new East Bend Library provides easy access to neighborhoods, schools, assisted-living centers, and other important populations in east Bend,” said Assistant Director Kevin Barclay. “We are eager to provide excellent library services for all ages.”

According to Barclay, there will be no financial impact to taxpayers.

“The Deschutes Public Library has been fiscally conservative and set aside reserves for the East Bend Library’s development and operations,” said Barclay. “We have also implemented changes to staffing and hours across the District that enables us to operate more efficiently and effectively.”

A community grand opening celebration is planned for early May.

East Bend Library hours are: Tuesday – Wed 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Friday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Closed Sunday & Monday
