Will Hobbs Visits Central Oregon Middle Schools

Award-winning author Will Hobbs, well known for his books about outdoor adventure, will be speaking at local schools, sponsored by Deschutes Public Library. Hobbs has written over twenty books with locales such as Utah, Colorado, and Texas. His exciting books have captured the hearts of readers for over two decades.
His visit includes a writer’s workshop at the
Bend Public Library on Tuesday, March 15th at 6:30 pm for teens and adults in the evening.
“We are honored to have Mr. Hobbs coming from Arizona and look forward to all the great discussions students will have about his awesome books,” stated Mercedes Hubbard, Redmond Community Librarian.
Deschutes Public Library provided multiple copies of several of his books to local schools, so that they could be prepared for his visit. Some books we have highlighted out of his enormous body of work include:
Take Me To The River (out March, 2011),
Jackie’s Wild Seattle,
The Maze,
Crossing the Wire, and
Go Big or Go Home.
Middle Schoolers are invited to “Will Hobbs” on Monday, March 14
th – Wednesday, March 16th at local schools.
- On Monday, March 14th, he will be speaking at Obsidian Middle School at 8 am, Terrebonne School at 10 am, and Tumalo School at 1 pm
- On Tuesday, March 15th, he will be speaking at Cascade Middle School at 8:45 am, Pilot Butte Middle School at 10:45 am, and High Desert Middle School at 1:30 pm
- On Wednesday, March 16th, he will be speaking at La Pine Middle School at 8 am, Three Rivers School in Sun River at 10 am, and at Sisters Middle School at 1 pm
The Deschutes Public Library brings an author to Central Oregon every year alternating between high school and middle school authors. Previous authors include Tamora Pierce, Margaret Peterson Haddix, Pete Hautman, and Todd Strasser.
