For nine years, five local musicians have been tooting their horns around Central Oregon as the Cascade Brass Quintet. During December, the quintet will be performing at the Redmond Public Library on Thursday, December 20th at 5:30 pm, and upstairs at the Bend Public Library on Saturday, December 22nd at 2:00 pm. Both performances are free and open to the public.
"We play everything" states Tom Barber, a retired music teacher, who does duty as the group's tuba player and arranges many of the group's tunes, "from Dixieland to Baroque." He adds that, "Traditionally, brass quintets consist of a tuba, two trumpets, a French horn and a trombone, and are popular for the bold and distinctive way the five horns blend together." Both performances will feature mostly holiday favorites guaranteed to get visiters in the spirit!
