Celebrate the wearin’ o the green at the Sisters Public Library on March 16, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. when local trio, “A Scottish Heart” takes the Café Libri stage. Refreshments will be served. This program is free and open to the public.

Since 1994, Irene Goodnight, Becky Duncan and Steve Allely have been playing, arranging and performing traditional Scottish and Irish music together as “A Scottish Heart.” Goodnight, who plays fiddle in the group, is joined by Duncan, on piano and Allely on bodhran, tinwhistles and Uillean pipes. Goodnight, credits the groups’ deep knowledge of traditional music to on going education and a deep love of traditional music. “We attend Valley of the Moon Scottish music school, workshops in both Oregon and California and pour over sources to develop our traditional sound.” Last year, A Scottish Heart was invited to attend the Master’s Conference in California where they studied with world-renowned Scottish masters on piano and fiddle. Weekly practices keep the band performance ready while trips to Scotland and sitting in on Irish sessions in New York have proven their authentic abilities.

“A Scottish Heart,” has performed at intimate venues as well as large gatherings and dances, including the opening of the Tower Theater and Burns Night in Burns, Oregon. They have earned a following of true fans throughout Central Oregon thanks to their showmanship and musical talent.

This program is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 312-1032.
