“Menopause doesn’t have to mean hot flashes, sleepless nights and mood swings,” says Stacy Sharlet, DC. Dr Sharlet explains techniques that can reduce the symptoms of menopause at Wellness Wednesday on Wednesday, August 13th, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sisters Public Library.
“Menopause can be addressed naturally, without drugs and hormones," says Sharlet who has been in private practice in Bend since 1998. Dr. Sharlet is a graduate of Logan Collage of Chiropractic and holds additional certification from the International College of Applied Kinesiology. She treats patients for various conditions, including allergies, and chronic pain.
Dr. Sharlet says that menopausal symptoms are epidemic and still increasing. There are multiple dietary factors to menopausal symptoms including misconceptions about cholesterol and dietary fat intake. "Cholesterol is the base molecule for not only sex hormones but stress hormones as well." Sharlet states, "It's important that cholesterol not be too low or too high in order to help prevent hot flashes and other bothersome symptoms of menopause.”
