Join Deschutes Public Library for the monthly Second Sunday celebration of the written word in the Brooks Room of the Bend Public Library on Sunday, January 14th, 2007. The reading begins at 3:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

January's guest is writer George Venn. His sixty articles, essays, and reviews have appeared in thirty-two different periodicals, and his prose has been anthologized in nine different collections. Venn will read from his new book "Soldier to Advocate: C.E.S. Wood's 1877 Legacy." A review by critic Jeff Baker of the Oregonian states that C.E.S. Wood's "involvement in the story of Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce is crucial to our understanding of that essential part of Pacific Northwest history, and Venn's work breaks new ground." An open mic will follow the guest reader.
