Deschutes Public Library is pleased to host a poetry workshop on Sunday, October 8 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The workshop will be led by poet Dorianne Laux. The registration fee for the workshop is $40. Workshop space is limited to 12 participants. Lunch is included.
Laux is author of Facts About The Moon (W.W. Norton, 2006) as well as three previous collections of poetry Awake, What We Carry (finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award) and Smoke. She is also co-author of The Poet’s Companion: A Guide to the Pleasures of Writing Poetry (W.W. Norton, 1997). She is a professor of Creating Writing at the University of Oregon.
During the workshop, participants will explore a host of contemporary poetry to find models for writing our own stories and poems. All levels of writers are welcome.
Following the workshop, Laux, along with Joe Millar, will be the guest readers at the monthly Second Sunday reading in the Brooks Room of the Bend Public Library. An open mic will follow the reading.
