In celebration of Celtic Heritage, local trio, “A Scottish Heart” plays at the Bend Public Library Lobby on Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at 6:30 p.m.
Since 1994, Irene Goodnight, Becky Duncan and Steve Allely have been playing, arranging and performing traditional Scottish and Irish music together as “A Scottish Heart.” Goodnight, who plays fiddle in the group, is joined by Duncan on piano and Allely on bodhran, tinwhistles and Uillean pipes. Goodnight, credits the groups’ deep knowledge of traditional music to on going education and a deep love of traditional music. “We attend Valley of the Moon Scottish music school, workshops in both Oregon and California and pour over sources to develop our traditional sound.” Weekly practices keep the band performance ready while trips to Scotland and sitting in on Irish sessions in New York have proven their authentic abilities.
“A Scottish Heart,” has performed at intimate venues as well as large gatherings and dances, including the recent opening of the Tower Theater. They have earned a following of true fans throughout Central Oregon thanks to their showmanship and musical talent.
