Dr. Stacy Sharlet, DC, explains some non-invasive treatments that can save time and money when dealing with headache pain with a presentation titled “The Heartache of Headache,” on Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bend Public Library. This presentation is part of the Wellness Wednesday series, dedicated to health related issues hosted each month at Deschutes Public Libraries.

“Tension, allergies, toxic substances, and dehydration can all result in headache pain.” say Dr. Sharlet who has been in private practice in Bend since 1998. She is a graduate of Logan Collage of Chiropractic and holds additional certification from the International College of Applied Kinesiology. She treats patients for various conditions, including allergies, and chronic pain.

Dr. Sharlet says that headache symptoms can be effectively treated with a little experimentation and persistence. “Eliminating a potential problem food, like dairy or grains, for two weeks can help determine if a food is at the root of the headache.” Sharlet also states that toxic substances like artificial sweetners and alcohol are often the culprits of chronic headaches. “Other causes for headaches may need more evaluation, like hormonal or stress related headaches,” says Sharlet.

Each month, Dr. Sharlet will address a different health related topic at libraries throughout the district. For a complete list of the series topics, please call 312-1032. Wellness Wednesday is free and open to the public.
