(April 20, 2001) Join author William L. Sullivan for a slide show tour of the spectacular hiking trails east of the Cascades. Sullivan will discuss his latest book on Saturday, May 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bend Public Library and Sunday, May 6 at noon at the Sunriver Area Public Library. Based on Sullivan’s newest book "100 Hikes/Travel Guide: Eastern Oregon," the show features alpine getaways in the Wallowa Mountains, adventures in the new Steens Mountain Wilderness, and beautiful, little-known trails in the Ochocos and Blue Mountains.
A fifth generation Oregonian, Sullivan has written nine books about the state, including five titles in his popular "100 Hikes" series. Other recent works include "Hiking Oregon’s History"; a historical novel entitled "A Deeper Wild"; and a new edition of "Listening for Coyote", a journal of Sullivan’s 1,361 mile solo backpacking trek across Oregon in 1985.
