Café Libri is open this month at the LaPine Public Library on October 26, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. During this time, regular library services are available. This program is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
Café Libri is the result of the library district responding to public suggestions. Created to provide a place to meet and mingle and enjoy food and friends in a casual environment, Café Libri events are hosted once a month throughout the library district. Refreshments will be served and entertainment provided. Visitors to Café Libi are encouraged to enjoy the music, browse the stacks and get acquainted with their library in a whole new way.
Taking the stage at the October event is the barbershop quartet, SoundWave. The quartet has been harmonizing together for the past five years. They also perform as part of the High Desert Harmoneers. According to SoundWave member John Lawson, the experience of being in a quartet has been a fun one but musically challenging. “In a quartet, you have to really know your part,” says Lawson. “There’s no hiding in a quartet.” The group performs classic barbershop favorites with flair and skill. “We like to perform,” says Lawson. “It’s fun to interact with the audience during a performance.”
