"This is promised to be the community event of the season," said Regional Library Manager Carla Hopkins. "We have distinguished speakers, the La Pine Middle School concert band, the La Pine High School cheerleaders, and cookies and lemonade for all."
After a successful partnership between the Deschutes Public Library System, the Bend-La Pine School District, Bureau of Land Management, and La Pine Parks and Recreation, the land was secured for the new library.
"We have been honored with very cooperative partners from the beginning," said Hopkins. "The beautiful building was designed with the vision of architect Richard Turi, and a La Pine citizen’s committee, and constructed by Scott Degree Builders - Contractors."
