As part of the "A Novel Idea....Read Together" community wide reading program, the Deschutes Public Library and the Deschutes Public Library Foundation presents "The Bill Bowerman Papers & Sports History at the U of O: Letters, Films, Photos & Shoe Tread". This program will take place on May 10, 6:00 pm, at the Redmond Public Library and is free and open to the public.
University of Oregon archivist Heather Briston will discuss how although Bill Bowerman is a legendary figure with many well-known achievements, many people are just learning about the diverse nature of his ideas and activities. Briston's collection, which includes the Bowerman papers, help to tell the larger history of track and field and sports at the University of Oregon, and also illustrate the diversity of Bill Bowerman's life.
