Care Walsh -- Artist in Residence

Posted By:  Kathy Duffy
Date Posted:  8/1/2006

Care Walsh, doll maker and resident of Crooked River Ranch, will be kicking off a new series of mini-artist in residence events at the Redmond Library on Saturday, August 5th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Care’s original works, which have been shown in a number of art shows and displayed in places as diverse as the Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Exhibit and the Edina Art Center, are ceramic and include a great number of natural pieces like rocks, furs, and moss. All clothing is hand-made. Care uses dental tools to carve the dolls’ faces and prefers to use hematite beads for the eyes because of their depth and sparkle.

The public is invited to come and watch Care work on a doll, ask questions about techniques, and meet the artist. This program is free.
