For four and a half years, five local musicians have been tooting their own horns around Central Oregon as the Cascade Brass Quintet. On Saturday December 18, at 3:00 p.m. at the Redmond Public Library, the public is invited for a performance by the fivesome.

“We play everything,” states Tom Barber, who does duty as the group’s tuba player, “from Baroque to Dixieland.” The Redmond performance will feature mostly holiday favorites guaranteed to get visitors in the spirit! You might also hear movie soundtrack tunes or an old standby by Mozart.

“Traditionally, brass quintets consist of a tuba, two trumpets, a French horn and a trombone and are popular for the bold and distinctive way the five horns blend together,” says Barber. Barber, a retired music teacher is joined by computer engineer Doug Pike, who plays the French Horn, Bruce Emerson, trombone player and physics teacher, retired environmental engineer and trumpet player, Bob Schmek and music teacher and trumpet player, Greg Byers.

This program is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 312-1032.
