The library has two summer reading programs this year -- One for teens ages 11 and up and one for children from birth through age 11.
Children can start the fun by visiting their local library and pick up:
* A brown Beaver Reading Coupon
* A green Frog Reading Coupon
READ!
When you have finished three hours of reading or listening to books, turn in the brown reading coupon at your library and receive a free book and a chance at the weekly prize drawing for puppets & books! Each additional green reading coupon that you turn in gives you another chance at the weekly drawing.
DISCOVER!
Music, storytelling, crafts and puppets will fill your summer with imagination, creativity and laughter at the library. Find out all about the Weekly Wanders: programs for ages 6-10, and Story Times for the youngsters.
EXPLORE!
Oregon is a state full of amazing creatures, both big and small. You will be introduced to two of them, whales and bats in a series of "From Sea to Sky" Programs. Puppets, live animals, and hands-on exploration will bring these animals "up close and personal". We're sure to have something for everyone!
TEENS CAN EARN FREE BOOKS!
Just read for three hours, hand in a coupon, and pick out a paperback book to keep. Pick up Teen Summer Reading Program coupons at any Deschutes Public Library branch.
PRIZE DRAWINGS!
Every three hours of reading also gets you entered in a weekly prize drawing. There are many different prizes, so the more you read, the better your chances are of winning! We'll call winners each week.
