Author William Sullivan Visits Bend

Deschutes Public Library and The Central Oregon Nordic Club host author /explorer William L. Sullivan on Friday, May 16th at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Admin Conference Room in the Old Library Building for a slide show and book signing.

Sullivan, a fifth-generation Oregonian, has hiked every significant trail in the state, collecting information, photographs and anecdotes for ten books, including the popular 100 Hikes series. In his new book, Oregon’s Most Beautiful Trips & Trails, Sullivan revels some of his favorite getaways with tips on where to stay and what to see.

Based on his new book, the slide show and lecture will offer a tour of the state’s most interesting and scenic places, from the hot springs of Steens Mountain and the gold-mining ghost towns of Northeast Oregon to the wild-fire landscape of the Kalmiopsis Wilderness and the alpine wildflower displays of the High Cascades. Described by The New York Times as “An endearing, engaging writer,” Sullivan, began hiking at age five and has been exploring new trails and sharing his love of the outdoors ever since.
