It’s National Library Week, a time to “Celebrate @ your library” and rediscover all that your local libraries and librarians have to offer.

“Libraries are part of the American dream,” says Community Relations Manager Chantal Strobel. “Whether you’re looking for the latest bestseller, researching your college term paper, checking out CDs and DVDs, attending children and adult programs, or using the Internet, the library has the resources and staff to help you find the information you seek.”

This year, the Deschutes Public Library joins the American Library Association and libraries across the country in encouraging our users to learn more about the exciting range of new and traditional resources available.
“A library trivia question of the day will be posted at your local library from Monday, April 7 through Friday, April 11,” said Strobel. “We invite patrons to answer it correctly, or at least give it a good guess, and receive a prize at the check-out desk.”

The Deschutes Public Library continues to be one of the fastest growing libraries in the state of Oregon.
“This year we will circulate more than 1.4 million items through our libraries in Deschutes County,” said Strobel. “A new service to begin soon is 24/7 online reference where professional librarians, the ultimate search engines, help patrons find the information they need around the clock. This free service is one of many services the library offers both online and in the library buildings.”
