Grantmakers Panel May 7Nonprofit organizations are an essential part of communities across the country. They provide valuable programs to citizens and can make a positive economic impact. However, funding a nonprofit organization is rarely a simple task. From securing and retaining donors to seeking grant funds, there are unique challenges that nonprofits face in their efforts to start and to grow.

Luckily, there is a wealth of resources available to help, and many of them are free. Deschutes Public Library and The Nonprofit Association of Oregon are hosting a Grantmakers Panel for Nonprofits on Monday, May 7, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Brooks Room at the Downtown Bend Library (601 NW Wall Street, Bend).

Representatives from The Oregon Community Foundation, First Interstate Bank Foundation and Roundhouse Foundation will talk about their foundations, the grants they issue and tips for writing successful grant proposals. A question and answer session follows the formal presentations.

Adrienne Graham, senior consultant for The Nonprofit Association of Oregon in Central Oregon, encourages members of the local nonprofit community to attend. “This is a great opportunity to meet the grantmakers in person and start (or continue!) building relationships with key representatives from local and statewide grantmaking organizations,” says Graham.

Deschutes Public Library community librarian Alyssa Bennett agrees. “The library’s grantmaker panels provide a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Oregon grantmakers and the grant application process, as well as give people a chance to meet representatives from other local nonprofits,” she says.

Space is limited and registration is required, so it is recommended that people who are interested register early to reserve their spot. Register online at https://www.deschuteslibrary.org/calendar/event/46919.
