Art at the Sunriver Library

Public art at the library

Public art at the Sunriver Library is funded through Oregon’s 1% for Art program. Following the library’s 2024 renovation, the Sunriver Library welcomed a wood-and-copper sculpture outside the building, a new permanent painting by Central Oregon artist Judy Hoiness inside, and a metal sculpture by Jesse Pemberton.

Surface Tension

Jesse Pemberton

Installed in August 2026, Surface Tension is a wall-mounted sculpture by artist Jesse Pemberton that hangs within the Sunriver Library lobby. The work is composed of more than 300 feet of curvilinear stainless steel rods that loop and spill over the supporting back frame. Concave and convex elements were shaped to create a physical topography of merging wave-forms as informed by the undulations of land and liquid that present similar energetic patterns of scale and frequency. This piece seeks to engage the Sunriver community while co-anchoring the location’s other prominent works by sculptors Santigie and Sapata Fofana-Dura and painter Judy Hoiness.

The library’s art commissions are funded through a one-percent set-aside on bricks-and-mortar construction costs—a policy that follows the State of Oregon’s 1% for Art statute. Read about the program and how artists apply →  ·  See public art at all our libraries →
