What is Library Linx?
Library Linx is a partnership between Deschutes County schools and Deschutes Public
Library (DPL). It provides the opportunity for students and teachers to place holds
on public library materials and have the materials delivered to their school. The
materials are then checked out in the school’s media center by the media manager/specialist.
It creates library users out of students who might not otherwise be able to visit
a public library, and allows for teachers to have quick and easy access to materials
that supplement what they have at school.
Approximately 25 schools in Bend, La Pine, Redmond and Sisters are Linx schools,
based on a variety of responsibilities and criteria. Check with the media manager/specialist
at your school and find out if they are part of the partnership.
If your school is a Linx school, be sure to fill out the Linx library card application
provided by the school. The card can be used not only at school, but also at all
Deschutes Public Libraries. Even if you already have a Deschutes Public Library
card, it is important that you get a Linx card.
Remember that, like all of our library cards, it allows for access to the entire
collection. When a parent signs the Linx Library Card Application, he/she agrees
to the following: “By signing this form, you give permission for your child to use
the library freely.” The Library provides a collection for all ages and interests,
and encourages parents to guide his/her own child on making selections that are
appropriate for their family.
