The Friends of the Redmond Library Art Committee, is pleased to present Marti Meyer as the Featured Artist in our Silent Reading Room for October – November 2013.

Watercolor artist Marti Meyer has always loved to draw; although, she didn’t concentrate on art classes until her college years. Marti left college to marry and raise a large family. While homeschooling her children, she continued her art education by devouring hundreds of art books and taking occasional drawing classes. After the youngest of her children started college, Marti had time to get serious about her art. Marti has studied with some of the country’s best artists, including Charles Reid, Daniel Green, Arne Westerman, Ted Nuttall and several others.

Artist’s Statement:

I have never wanted to draw anything but portraits. I find every single face I see to be unique, fascinating and worthy of attention. My skills have grown from wanting my portraits to just look like a person, to wanting to capture the likeness of a particular person. I now use light creatively to capture not only a physical likeness of the subject but also the essence of a person’s character.

"The Color of Character" is available for viewing in the Silent Reading Room in the Redmond library located at 827 SW Deschutes Ave., Redmond, OR 97756. Library hours are Monday – Friday: 10 – 6 PM, Tuesday: 10 – 8 PM and Saturday: 10 – 5 PM.

Artwork in the library will be for sale with a portion going to support the Friends of the Redmond Branch Library, which sponsors art exhibitions in the library.
