Bend Masonic Temple gives away bikes to readers
The Seattle-based Brian Waite Band will be performing at Deschutes Public Libraries as the final event of the children’s summer reading program, “Dig Into Reading.” Their concert, “Tour to the Center of the Earth,” includes comedy, sing along, and dancing as band members Brian and Todd “dig up a strange world of magical forests, lost oceans, and extinct creatures.”
In addition to the musical program, Bend Masonic Lodge will announce the winners of their Bikes for Books contest. Each library will have 2 winners, age 6-11, drawn from the entries for 3 hours of reading or listening that have been received at the libraries during the summer. The Center is also donating helmets and fittings.
The schedule and locations are as follows:
Funding for the Brian Waite Band is from the Ready to Read grant, Friends of the Deschutes Libraries, and the Library Foundation. For more information contact Heather McNeil, Youth Services Manager, at 541-617-7099, or firstname.lastname@example.org
