Deschutes Public Library

Deschutes Public Library is pleased to announce the Good Chair, Great Books titles for 2011. Good Chair, Great Books is the monthly book club sponsored by the library and held at each of its five libraries.


The discussion groups are fun, friendly, and all are welcome to attend.

The book list for 2011 includes:

• Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
• The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
• Kapitoil by Teddy Wayne
• Little Bee by Chris Cleave
• Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls
• A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
• Strange Piece of Paradise by Terri Jentz
• The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman
• Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
• Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri
• Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life by Barbara Kingsolver
• The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian by Sherman Alexie
• Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout

Of the 14 titles, each library will discuss 11 throughout the year. All five will be reading Kapitoil in April as part of the A Novel Idea programming.
