Know Dogs!

Know Dogs!Wildlife photographer Roger Caras once said “Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” According to the Humane Society of the United States there are approximately 77.5 million owned dogs in the United States helping to make their owners lives more whole and a whole lot more fun. Dogs often go beyond being pets. They can be helpers, companions, saviors, and have been the subjects of popular television shows and classic books. Dogs are a part of our culture and important members of our families. Deschutes Public Library invites you to “Know Dogs” during a series of presentations during August and September at branch libraries.

On tap for the “Know Dogs” series are two workshops on how to build your own dog house with local do it yourself guru, Fred Olson at the Redmond and Bend Libraries. Mare Shay, owner of Dancin’ Woofs Dog Training will offer two classes designed to make dog training a snap. The avalanche rescue dog team from Mt. Bachelor will stop at the Bend and Sisters Libraries and local 4-H’ers will be discussing proper dog park etiquette at the Redmond Library.

Although this series is about our furry friends, we ask that you leave your canine family member at home.
