Date Posted: 2/23/2005
Café Libri is open at the Sisters Public Library on March 18, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. During this time, limited library services are available. This program is free and open to the public.
Café Libri is the result of the library district responding to public suggestions. Created to provide a place to meet and mingle and enjoy food and friends in a casual environment, Café Libri events are hosted once a month throughout the library district. Refreshments will be served and entertainment provided.
Taking the library stage at the March Café Libri is local musician Alan Byer, Central Oregon’s “Everyman singer/songwriter.” For over 20 years Byer has crafted his songs of love, wonder, pain and hope with power and eloquence. His songs comment on a wide array of topics, from spiritual commentary to poking fun at the fast food industry. Always grounded in compassion for the human condition, at the core of his work is a profound reverence for life and the gifts of this world. As part of the Central Oregon Songwriters Association, Byer has won 14 Song of the Month awards, and two awards for the Folk Song of the Year. His debut CD, Sometimes It Works, was released in 2000. His current CD, Your Voice was released in late 2004. He credits Artis The Spoonman, Bruce Cockburn and Jackson Browne as his musical influences and heroes.
