Café Libri is open this month at the Redmond Public Library on September 21, 2006 from 6:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. During this time, regular library services are available. This program is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
Taking the stage at the September event is the father/daughter duo of Joe Leonardi and Anastacia Scott. The pair has been playing together for three years, often as part of local favorite, Stone Soup. According to Leonardi, “playing with my daughter is fantastic.” He credits the common DNA. “Our music is so naturally connected.” Their music also provides a catalyst for getting closer and resolving father/daughter issues. The duo will be playing original folk/eclectic rock.
Anastacia got her first guitar at the age of 10. She began playing by watching her older brother cover Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix tunes. “I remember begging my brother to teach me anything.” From those early strummings, Anastacia learned to use song writing and music as an outlet. After a brief hiatus to dedicate time to her son, Anastacia re-entered the music world by attending the Sisters folk festival song writing competition. She was chosen as a finalist in 2005 and performed three of her original pieces.
Leonardi, bass player and singer/songwriter, enjoys his role as elder rocker. His thirty year musical journey began on the street corners and subways stations of New York where he sang in “Do Wop” groups. Inspired by early blues artists, Leonardi learned the bass at 16. He has been compared to Van Morrison, Mick Jagger and Bob Dylan. After playing in a multitude of cover bands, Leonardi began writing his own music two years ago. In 2004 he was voted “Best Live Performer” in Cascade Arts & Entertainment.
