Author! Author! brings our country's top authors to Bend for a lively discussion of the author's current works, literature and writing process. All proceeds benefit the Deschutes Public Library. Thank you for your support!

Beautiful Ruins tickets Jess Walter

Jess Walter is the author of the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Ruins. He has written eight books and was a finalist for the 2006 National Book Award and the PEN/​USA Literary prize in both fiction and nonfiction. Walter won the 2005 Edgar Allan Poe Award. His work has been published in 30 languages and his short fiction has appeared in Best American Short Stories, Harpers, McSweeney's, Esquire and elsewhere.

The Art of Racing in the Rain tickets Garth Stein

Garth Stein is the best-selling author of four novels including the wonder hit The Art of Racing in the Rain. The Art of Racing in the Rain sold more than 6 million copies in 35 languages, and spent more than three years on the New York Times bestseller list. The Art of Racing in the Rain inspired a Young Reader edition, as well as a children’s picture book adaptation (2014), a stage adaptation by Book-It Repertory Theatre in Seattle, and is currently in development with Universal Studios for a major motion picture. His most recent book is A Sudden Light.

Ann Patchett is the author of six novels, The Patron Saint of Liars, Taft, The Magician’s Assistant, Bel Canto, Run, and State of Wonder. She was the editor of Best American Short Stories, 2006, and has written three books of nonfiction, Truth & Beauty, about her friendship with the writer, Lucy Grealy, What now? an expansion of her graduation address at Sarah Lawrence College, and, most recently, This is the Story of a Happy Marriage, a collection of essays that examines the theme of commitment.

Orange is the New Black tickets Piper Kerman

Piper Kerman is the author of the memoir Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison. The book has been adapted into a Peabody Award-winning original series for Netflix.
