Downtown Bend: Blank Pages Writing Workshop - The Madman

Tuesday, August 01, 2017
6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Location
Downtown Bend Library
Brooks Room
Description
Mike Cooper leads a series of Writing Workshops based on Betty Flowers' Essay on the four personality roles in the writing process. These roles apply to all forms of writing: Fiction, Nonfiction, Technical, Business, & Poetry.

Participants are encouraged to register for all three workshops for a comprehensive experience.

Day One: The Madman
The Madman is our creative side, and can be inhibited by the other three (i.e. "This is horrible. I should quit. What was I thinking?"). In this workshop, we'll discuss the importance of the role of freewriting in our work, and how to keep our editorial mind at bay while we do it. We'll be working with writing prompts, so bring something to write with and something to write on.

Mike Cooper is a graduate of the OSU-Cascades MFA Writing Program and has led several writing workshops for Deschutes Public Library, Caldera Arts, OSU Cascades, and The Workhouse in Bend. He recently placed in the top 25 for Glimmer Train's New Writer's Award.
