Description
Thomas DeWolf is the author of Inheriting the Trade: A Northern Family Confronts Its Legacy as the Largest Slave-Trading Dynasty in U.S. History (Beacon Press). In 2001, Tom traveled with nine distant relatives on a life-altering journey through New England, Ghana, and Cuba to film the Emmy-nominated documentary film, Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North.

While in Ghana, DeWolf visited locations highlighted in Yaa Gyasi’s Homegoing, including Cape Coast Castle in Ghana. During his presentation he will read excerpts from his book, show images from his family’s journey, and film clips from the documentary. Attendees will experience an engaging and interactive presentation, and will explore connections between Homegoing, Inheriting the Trade, and present-day consequences of historic events.

Books will be available for sale.
